Why has my school been invited?
All mainstream secondary schools (including middle-deemed secondary schools) in England have been invited to take part in the research.
Is taking part compulsory? No. Participation in the survey is completely voluntary. Schools' contributions are valuable in helping us understand the lives of young people. This survey can be completed as part of your PSHE programme.
What will your school get for taking part?
- All schools can download a free PSHE Association lesson plan which will be available on this website from May 2025.
- All schools participating will receive a second PSHE Association lesson plan after their students have completed the online survey.
- Participating schools will also receive a personalised report comparing their data to national averages.
Will the school be judged on the results? No. The survey aims to understand young people's views and experiences related to smoking, drinking, and drugs. Findings are completely confidential: no-one will be able to identify which schools or students have taken part in the study from the data.
